            German Utility Model (Gebrauchsmuster) instruction
            Step 1: Login and select "New Cases" > "Germany" > "Utility model" in the navigation bar on the left side.
             
            Step 2: Complete the online application form; upload documents; and pay by credit card or on account

                            - Specification must be in German
- Don't refer to brand names / trademarks
- SI units only
- Typed text only
- Margins: upper 2.5cm, left 2.5cm, right 1.5cm, bottom 1cm
Claims
                        
                            - Unity of invention required
- No process / method claims or plant / animal varieties
- Multiple independent claims and claim dependencies permitted
- May amend claims on filing
Drawings
                        
                            - Only black and white / grayscale drawings (no photographs)
- Show cross-section with hatching
- Drawing numbers and reference numbers in drawings must be at least 0.32cm high
- No text in the drawings apart from reference numbers and figure numbers
 
                 
                 
                
             
     
            Next steps:
            
                
                    - Upon payment, Prisma IP Law (a German law firm) will review and file the German Utility Model (Gebrauchsmuster).
- We will send you an application number and filing receipt within 2-3 business days, and you can track the status of the application online.
- Within 2-3 months, we should receive the German Utility Model certificate. A scanned copy will be emailed to you. Postage can be arranged (optional). 
- About 6 weeks later, the German Utility Model should be published.
 
            Note: Filing, publication and registration fees (inclusive of official fees) are included in our filing fee. Downstream costs: Postage of the paper certificate (optional), Renewals.
