Luxembourg short-term patent instruction
Step 1: Login and select "New Cases" > "Luxembourg" > "Short Term Patent" in the navigation bar on the left side.
Step 2: Complete the online application form; upload documents; and pay by credit card or on account

Specification
- Specification must be in English (with French/German translated claims)
- Don't refer to brand names / trademarks
- SI units only
- Typed text only
- Margins: upper 2.5cm, left 2.5cm, right 2cm, bottom 2cm
Claims
- Unity of invention required
- Multiple independent claims and claim dependencies permitted
- May amend claims on filing
Drawings
- Only black and white / grayscale drawings (no colour)
- Drawing numbers and reference numbers in drawings must be at least 0.21cm high
- No handwritten text
Next steps:
- Upon payment, Prisma IP Law (a German law firm) will review and file the Luxembourg patent.
- We will send you an application number and filing receipt within 2-3 business days, and you can track the status of the application online.
- Within 2-3 months of publication of the PCT patent, we should receive a Luxembourg national phase patent. The certificate for a Luxembourg convention / direct patent takes 7 months from filing (if early publication is requested). A scanned copy will be emailed to you. Postage can be requested.
