How to file an OAPI trademark:

  1. Register or login
  2. Complete the online application form
  3. Download, sign, scan and upload forms
  4. Pay filing fee: Euro 730 (first class), Euro 165 (each additional class), Euro 120 per priority claim

No documents need to be commissioned, notarized or legalised.

The original Power of Attorney and priority document(s) should be couriered to our agent for lodgement within 3 months of filing.

The filing receipt and application number should be issued within 3 months of filing.

Prosecution:

The OAPI trademark examiner may issue an examination report within 3 months of filing. You may instruct our agent to respond to the examination report (cost: from Euro 65).

OAPI trademarks are typically published within 4 months of filing and lie open to opposition for 3 months.

In the absence of opposition, the Nigerian trademark registration certificate should be issued within 6-12 months of filing.

OAPI trademarks must be renewed every 10 years from the OAPI filing date. Each renewal costs about US-[Enter], and is processed by the PayAnnuity patent renewal system.
